ICIA is an annual conference organized by the Center for Research and Publication of the Islamic University of the Maldives.

The IUM Act states, increasing and extending knowledge and dissemination of this to the community, both local and international as a key responsibility of the University. IUM’s annual international conference has been the channel through which the University has thus far tried to fulfil the task of knowledge sharing and building of learning communities.

ICIA aims to achieve this goal by bringing together scholars, researchers, students, practitioners and policy makers for open, critical and constructive discussions, and exchange of ideas on creating learning communities through exchange of knowledge.

The conference was held since 2016. For the first three years, ICIA, was “known as International Conference on Islamic Awakening”. However, the conference was rebranded as International Conference on Intellectual Advancement in the year 2019.
